I got to wake up to this on Saturday morning.....Miss Mya.

She is so precious and I can't believe it's going to be her 1st birthday soon!! Mya was born in England and I wasn't there to celebrate her being born so I am going to make up for that on her 1st birthday! If any of you have any good and original ideas as to what to get a 1yr old please let me know! Oh and Mabyn, I don't expect an answer from you :p.

On Sunday I left to come back to the city so I could make the Super Bowl party that my friend Nick and his wife Janice were hosting. I should have left earlier because it took me 4 HOURS to get back to Hali from home. (Normally the drive is only 2.5 hours) Yes, ok there was a little bit of snow on the road but it is absolutely unnecessary to drive 60km/hr and brake every 2 seconds. For those of you who are thinking, "why didn't she just pass the cars?", I inform you that there are about ummmm....let's see...maybe 5 passing lanes on the 300km single lane highway. That was probably the only good thing about living in Moncton. When I wanted to come to Halifax, I jumped on the highway and it was a double lane all the way so I just went along my merry way, passing all the cars and not worrying about meeting the po-po. When I finally did get a chance to pass the cars on the ride back home, I put on my 4-way flashers while doing so....it's my way of telling them that they are driving too slow. I know, I'm mean but it's not my fault I have road rage.

So I arrived late to the party but the game was only in the first quarter. Now, I'm going to be honest. Sunday was the 1st time I had ever watched a football game in my life. I would purposely find other things to do when I lived in residence at Saint Mary's and I could watch the SMU Huskies play on the field from my dorm room. I'm not a big fan of football players. But the company was good and we had a great time. All my boys from law school that are articling in Halifax were there and I got to socialize with their better halves which was refreshing change...hehe. One of the girlfriends had made these especially for the party...I was impressed!!!

The cupcake holders....I can't think of the proper word for them right now....are even football themed!

This gave me an idea for the gold medal hockey game that Canada will hopefully be in in a couple of weeks. Cross your fingers for them!!

Private Practice

I started to post last night but I was catching up on Grey's and Private Practice and they were wayyy to good to take my eyes off the TV. I remember when Grey's anatomy premiered. It was a HUGE hit. Then when Addison left and started her own show everyone was kind of skeptical. Let me just say that I think Private Practice is 10 times better than Grey's Anatomy. I can't pinpoint the exact reason why I think it's better, it just is. It is set in L.A. where there are 4 or 5 doctors who specialize in different areas of medicine who have their own practice. There is no lack of drama(break-ups, cheaters, pregnancies, etc) which I believe always makes for good TV. Some of you might already watch it but if you don't I highly recommend it! So, I will try and post about my weekend this evening but I will leave you with the quote of the day:

"I am a very committed wife. And I should be committed too - for being married so many times." - Elizabeth Taylor

Case of the Mondays

My god I hate Mondays. I didn't really understand what people were talking about when they would say they "felt" Mondays. When I say this, it reminds me of a Seinfeld episode when Jerry and Newman are talking about what day it feels like.
This is how the scene goes:

Newman: What day is it today?
Jerry: Thursday
Newman: It doesn't feel like Thursday, it feels like Tuesday
Jerry: Tuesday has no feel, Monday has a feel, Friday has a feel, but Tuesday has no feel!

Then I started working full-time and not going to school anymore......I soon found out that Monday DOES have a feel and boy do I hate it. The only good thing about this Monday is that today I got a new phone!!! A blackberry!!! Since I don't have too much time right now I will post again tonight in regards to my weekend and my new phone but I will leave you with the quote of the day:

"If your lens is prejudice, you're wearing the wrong prescription." - Carrie Latet

Yesterday and today

Yesterday's quote was by a lady by the name of Brooke Astor who said - "Money is like manure, it's not worth a thing unless it's spread around."

Today, thank god, is Friday. I went to bed too late last night and am feeling it this morning. It's been a CRAZY week and I am really looking forward to the weekend. I have some really fun things to do!! Tonight I am heading for home but making a pit stop in Digby to visit Mabyn, Adam and Mya!! It's really weird how I get addicted to little kiddies. The same thing happened when Anya was born. The minute they start showing off their little personalities I am hooked and love to be around them. I haven't seen Mya since the week before Christmas and she has grown sooo much since then. I will post some pics of her when I get back this weekend. So yeah, I am going to have a sleepover in Digby and then head home in the morning for some rest and relaxation with fam and friends. I find it really tough being away from the girls and only getting to see them on weekends. Yes, we talk to each other on the phone during the week but it's just not the same as hanging out with them.

When I was mulling over life decisions last year, one thing that kept me from putting my foot forward was the fact that over the years I had let friendships disconnect and fade away and now that I was facing a major event in my life I didn't want to all of a sudden rely on them 100% when I hadn't been giving 100% of myself to those same relationships. I felt that my friends deserved more. So, I did what I had to do for myself and leaned on my friends as much as I felt I should. I confessed to them that I felt I had not been as good a friend as I should have been and that I felt guilty for this. It felt very good to finally be able to express the way I felt and I believe it made them feel better as well that I had noticed and understood their feelings. I feel like I am rambling on and not making any sense but what I am really trying to say is that my friends are very important to me and I believe that I am a better person because of the people that I chose to have in my life. I don't believe that we tell each other enough that we love each other so I am telling you all now. I have a little quote of my own that I would like to share with you regarding friends and making time for them... "Don't let life get in the way"

On a lighter note, "We have reason to believe that man first walked upright to free his hands for masturbation." - Lily Tomlin

Sandra Bullock

I really enjoy her. I loved her in Speed (I think that was the name of the movie - with Keanu Reeves...) and Miss Congeniality. I know I liked all her other movies but I can't think of their names right now. She just seems so down to earth and no one ever has anything bad to say about her. Anyway...she once said:

"Falling in love - you should go with it, regardless of whether or not your heart gets smashed. You'll be a better person."

I am entirely in agreement with this statement.

Greta Garbo

I'm going to cheat and change the date on this entry so that it's yesterday's date...

Already slacking

I know, I know...I said I was going to post everyday and I am already slacking in that department. It's just that I had such a relaxing weekend that I hardly even opened my computer! I really needed a weekend to myself which it exactly what it was..Friday night I laid on my couch and watched 3 straight hours of King of Queens re-runs. The neighbours probably thought I was having a party cause I was laughing so hard. Little did they know that I was by myself in my apartment....I know I'm a loser. I had every intention to sleep in on Saturday morning but of course my internal alarm clock was awake at 8:30 so I got up around 9 made some Kicking Horse coffee (best coffee ever) and read Generation X for a good two hours. It was great! Saturday afternoon I decided I needed more sleep so off to bed it was again...i LOVE naps.

I had decided early in the week last week that February was going to be the month that I got back on track with Weight Watchers. You see, last year I lost 30 pounds on Weight Watchers and I felt great! The only downside to this is that I gained it all back....

So Saturday evening I left with my WW cookbook in hand and headed out to do some smart grocery shopping. 3 hours and lots of money later I was ready to start my grand diet. I also stopped by the movie store and rented Doubt, Fried Green Tomatoes and Babel. If any of you have not seen Doubt, DON'T rent it! I thought it was horrible! Just when I thought the punch line of the movie was coming, the movie ended! If you did see it, did any of you like it? Fried Green Tomatoes is much more my style. I have yet to watch Babel but I'll let you know what I think of it.

So Sunday was a big day....I made WW blueberry streusel muffins, Chicken Saagwala; which is a chicken curry rice dish that was AMAZING and Creamy Spinach Spaghetti. This was a mixture of ricotta cheese, spinach, onions and garlic with whole wheat spaghetti. Basically I am set for the week, lunches and suppers. I am very proud of myself cause I don't usually like to cook. I did also find time to take yet another nap and finish reading my Generation X book which I am reading for Canada Reads (more about that later)

All in all it was an excellent weekend!

Oh and here is today's quote:
"I am extraordinarily patient, provided I get my own way in the end." - Margaret Thatcher
